Secret garden - Mixed media canvas

I've been having fun trying new crafting styles and techniques.  Today I'm sharing my first mixed media project with a stamped image of Sarah Kay.  It's been months since I sat down and color an image, I forget how relaxing and enjoyable it is for me.  I used watercolor on her and added some decoration on her watering can.

Mixed media is so much fun, if you haven't tried it, I encourage you to go for it!  You can't go wrong with this technique, anything goes!  In fact under all that Gesso are bright colorful flowers that I don't use and are in my recycle bin.  Mod podge them down to the canvas and layer on some white Gesso and they turn into shabby flowers.

Thanks so much for reading!  Have fun crafting and enjoy your day.

And yes, colouring is relaxing indeed! Love to do it, wish I had more time to sit down and play with all my stamps, ha, ha, there are just not enough hours in a day I guess.

  6. Oh wow!
You know, I really was thinking about the movie "the secret garden" before I saw that was what was in the frame. Love that movie! Remember we saw it in school when I was a kid, and all the other kids said it was so boring, but not me. Love dreamy things like that. :)
The wild, beautiful and shabby carden you have created here is just amazing. Love the gates, gorgeous image and love the texture and moss!

    Hope you are well.
    Lots of hugs,
    Anne.

  12. Chelsea, this is absolutely priceless, a treasure for you and your family! Honestly, you shouldn't sell it, you should hang it somewhere in your home for all to see. It's so amazing! I've not dabbled in mixed media, but seeing this surely gives me the itch, if only I had the time! I can't tell you which is my favorite part, I love it all. The gate is precious, but then so is the darling little girl, and then there are all those fabulous flowers, the bow, the embellies are so fabulous! Overall, it's a stunning piece of art! Hugs!!!
